hey, im working on my first mod and i need some help. i have 'finished' the mod but need some advice,
1. my current line of code is this.
Code: Select all
UNID=&;"AquilaCrusierMod" version="1.4"
2. whenever i start the game it comes up with this message:
Code: Select all
Error parsing Extensions\Aquila: Aquila.xml: Line(31): attribute value expected
can anyone advise what i should do?

Code: Select all
UNID="&AquilaCrusierMod;" version="1.4"
That should fix exactly that problem. I can not imagine where you got the other line from.

example from Phrophet's mod for starting lines:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE TranscendenceExtension
[
<!ENTITY unidExtension "0xD4277777">
]>
<TranscendenceExtension UNID="0xD4277777" version="1.0" credit="LittleModder" name="Clavis Dock Services">
<StationType UNID="&stInsuranceCompany;"
YOUR line reads like a ship class : and if it references a Known ship class youll confuse the engine.
Try replacing the Unid="& etc etc etc" with UNID=" your working ext. number " as shown in the example above.

been able to fix most of the problems but this one Invalid UNID: dad52102 [does not match extension UNID or override base type]
it is exactly the same as <!ENTITY rsCarrierShields "0xDAD52101"

wait a sec:::::::are there different Unids in there?
Dad + D00??
Noo: ALL UNIDS MUST MATCH UP unless you are overwriting a game programmed one
0xD001A230 is 0xD001 TheLastBrunnenG
not Styro.
match up the numbers to the Unid core or Styro's, 0xDAD5 if that is the Mod you are fixing.

d2560058
change it to something that follows 0xDAD5
Example:
0xDAD59999
0xDAD51234
0xDAD53456
Good luck!

Most times the " design type" is usually an error in the spacing of a " or ; or a mis-spelling
( drives me nuts but most of my errors are " expected " now )
errors called " expected " usually relate to " or > and rarely = because you almost always catch those.
Notepad++ is your best friend because it can count anything you highlight or tell it to so you will know if it's not paired up. It is supposed to Spell check: but considering the words you use in this game: no way is it able to ( frustrating since I spell like a Martian ).
IF you get to being Frustrated trying to find an error:
put it away and go back later so you see it with new eyes;

It would help with debugging if you posted your modified code to the pastebin whenever you hit a new snag.
