I don't think this was mentioned above: Ultima IV was released into the public domain by its creators, or perhaps put under an OS license I'm not sure which. The best port of it to modern operating systems is xu4:

A MUST PLAY is a game called BOXHEAD 2 PLAY ROOMS. CrazyMonkey Games.com made it. It is a game where you or u and a friend choose a level with different setups and fend off zombies. This is NOT ur basic cheap made, put up a few barriers and shoot zombies coming atcha from one direction, kinda game. It is a top down shooter but kinda st an angle so ur not right above yourself. This game is kickass and provides hours of fun zombie slaughtering fun! There is 3 or 4 other episodes of this game and one is a Halloween edition.
CHECK IT OUT! It is one of my favorites!!!

Raider Zero is an flash platformer from 2006. The developer abandoned it, but it's mostly finished. It's somewhat challenging. Just be careful, as there's an annoying glitch with moving platforms.

There is a game called RoboKill-Titan Prime. It is an overhead room to room shooter. You are a man in a robot suit and you equip up to 4 different weapons on your arms and shoulders, plus 4 slots for other items like front armor, cash pickup upgrades and shield rechargers. This game is kickass! There is even a second one made now! You get to play through 4 episodes. To play the other 3 sets of 4 episodes you gotta pay 10 bucks.
There is also an airplane side scroller game called Dogfight, and Dogfight II.Stunt Pilot & Stunt Pilot Trainer are good too. Also there's a neat little game called Planet Cruncher. Check it out. You'll LOVE these classics!!!!
This website will bring you right to all of the games I just talked about in a small list, so you can jump right in and play in your browser!

Heh. The only annoying thing is the pay-to-play on most of the levels of the Robokill games.BlakeG228 wrote:There is a game called RoboKill-Titan Prime. It is an overhead room to room shooter. And the aeoroplane games are: Stunt Pilot, Stunt Pilot Trainer, Dogfight, and Dogfight II. They're all fairly good.

@SHRIKE--Yeah u get to play the first 4 episodes for free. If you want to play the 9 other episodes you pay 10 bucks. But, like I said, if you go to youtube and type in "Robokill titan prime for free" there is a video a guy made that shows you the exact web address where you download it free using RapidShare. I did it and it works fine. I play it from my desktop all the time.
Robokill2 Rapidshare download was incomplete so don't get that one unless u find someone else that has put it on a file sharing site that's the complete game.

minecraft alpha is free to play for the weekend !
(it seems that the server crashed and Notch decided to let people play for free until everything is fixed, probably this weekend itself)

Dwarf Fortress:

And the wiki:
http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Main_Page
I edit the wiki occaisionally under the name "KingAuggie".
Don't knock the game 'till you've tried it. Very complicated controls at first, but after a bit of work (and checking out the wiki) it can be very very addictive.
Think of it a bit like a base-building RTS crossed rogue-like.
