[spoiler] endgame weapon

Hi! I want to share with you my experiences with end-game weapons (ICS killers), but real purpose of this post is that I want to hear about your tactics

Note: I'm rather a speedrunner (if 6,5h game is speed run - I don't know!), so usually I don't have time (or guts!) to farm Phoboses, kill every Ferian Mine etc. (God! My english SUCKS!).

IM90 Multitarget Blaster. Used twice (+120% & +60%). Relatively fast, but easy (=boring) method.

Lamplighter Prototype. Used once, in 0.99c. Unstable, boring, dangerous, but without Iocrym Sentinel Threat it was rather easy kill.

Lamplighter Archcannon. Used maybe 5 times. Very easy kill. Boring and tasteless.

+150% Heavy Ion Blaster. Used today. Good and affordable weapon. And you don't need Hyperion to kill ICS

Ares Positron Cannon (fast). TRY IT IF YOU DARE. In 0.99c it took me literally 2,5 hours (yes - it's not a mistake - ~150 minutes!) to kill ICS with it. I don't know if it is possible in 1.0x version.

Things to try - IFC, Ferian Plasma Cannon, Xenophobe Ion Lancer. Any other ideas?

Easy = good weapon (possibly even OP), even if it does make the end boss anti-climatic; that's a problem with the boss, not so much the weapon.

I like defend -> GOS -> shatter myself. Not really a weapon, but still.

The HIB is something of an underpowered weapon, and it's not very good unless enhanced, and by then you've wasted enhancers that would have been better spent on other stuff.

It's a lot easier in 1.0x. Now you can do it with an unenhanced fusionfire. The real problem is killing the sentinels fast enough to be able to finish the missions before all the stations are destroyed.

I know that HIB is rather weak weapon - all stations was destroyed and I was forced to gather Heretic Research ROMs (to be honest - it's my standard strategy).
Anyway - underpowered or not - it was quite easy to kill ICS with it - I had no time (or cash) to search for another weapon for enhance - i.e. there was NO IM90 generated

Net time I'll try something even weaker, like enhenced Ares Positron cannon or Xenophobe Ion Lancer (if I manage to lure Worldship to teratons ). I like strange challenges

Fusionfire Howitzer - I never used it - must try. Thanks for an idea!

Way back in 0.99c, I used Plasma gun (enhanced) and Raissermesser Launcher (I was a jerk and blew up all the Raisser stations in ten systems and stole their stuff )

Never won though, but it worked well against Ares/Luminous.

Two words: Ares Launcher.

The perfect supplement to any weapon!

I have no time to do Piont Juno missions, so Ares Launcher is almost unavailable for me.

OK, I'm at the Heretic, ready to make final quests, but I must rest a while

Current config is: Wolfen, +150% Plasma Shield Generator (some kind of experimen - usually I switch this shield to sth more powerful instead of enhancing it) and Fusionfire Howitzer with speed loader (I was forced to uninstall cargo expansion to remain with longreach autocannon )

EDIT: OK, nevermind - everything seems that my savefile is corrupted Transcendence hangs up when I try to load a game :/

You can break the quarantine just fine without any weapon. You can also grab some Iocrym scare cubes with just a bit of luck and a longreach.

Ares launcher... thats the one that can fire micronukes and warhammers? I used that once. Found it in a (possibly modded?) shop.

I had a modded shop sell me a randomly enhanced Fusionfire that had a 10X firerate on that playthrough though, so I think that contributed more to the Iocrym's downfall than the micronukes I lobbed allong with it.

Well, its tougher, but doable. I've used various rather exploitative tactics to finish the missions before the stations get killed.
