Down arrow as default is awkward at first, but handy after getting used to it because all movement can be done with one hand.

Well, not if you are using the mouse, which was my point. In a similar vein, being able to loot ships with just the mouse and not having to use enter would be helpful as well.

EDIT: I have logged this in Ministry as a suggestion.
