Re: [New Mod] Gravity

Awesome Mod! Maybe consider adding gravity to stars and asteroids, though.

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

I really do think that there has to be some limitations to maneuverability. Maybe set it so you get 28 total levels plus 1/2 the maneuverability. Then you can have a fast ship but it has to limit its equipment, or you can have a massive ship that can have many weapons (but we have to limit it, so yo...

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

One thing though that I'm worried about is the ship maneuverability balance. A small ship with high maneuverability will beat a larger ship with the same equipment. There should be some sort of limitation to the maneuverability and speed which scales to the maximum level. The only solution I can thi...

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

Yeah, but how about this: -Code can be put on either a ship or an event handler -Code cannot edit the ship in any way (not armor, not weapons, not cargo hold) -Code can teleport ships, but only once every 16 seconds, and the ship must have a jumpdrive counting towards the level total (each jumpdrive...

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

That all sounds good, but why does all coding have to be done in an event handler?

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

That could work, but it makes the whole thing more complicated when you get into a complicated class system. There is also a problem in using noncritical armor segments because if you set every segment to noncritical, the ship becomes unkillable.

Obviously entries should have no cargo.

Also, we should standardize ship configs to have 4 armor segments and no NonCritical segments.
Yeah, I think that would be best.

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

right, but since there is a maximum level for the total levels of the devices, which includes armor, if you spend all your levels in armor, then you won't have the firepower to kill anyone else.

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

I think I said something about graphics being no smaller than the hornet. Yeah, I did consider that. Of course, the solution to a 1x1 ship is tracking missiles and area effect. Lots of area effect.

Re: Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

Ok, I'm in! However, I have a few questions: 1. Carriers: can we have them? Can they do maintenance on their fighters? 2. You said that no code can modify incoming damage, but can we have the AI ship teleport? 3. How about omni weapons? I'm pretty sure all moddere will turn weapons into an Omnidire...

Anyone interested in a Modding Competition?

I was thinking it might be fun to have a competition to see who can make the best ship. My idea was that modders enter a mod with a single ship, and the ships fight each other in a tournament, which can be video recorded so everyone can see it. The ships have to follow very specific guidelines: devi...

Re: The Future of Transcendence

I think that some people would also prefer to have a "donate" based system as opposed to a paid system I would certainly prefer to have a donate system rather than a paid system. I would prefer that a large number of people download the mod for free than get have a few people buy it, but I do like ...

I know that there is an event you can call, since I've used it before. I think it's <OnArmorDamaged> but I'm not sure.

I've messed around a bit with BB flashback express: http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBackExpress/Home.aspx You have to register, but it's free. It seems to work great, the only downside is that you have to get standard or pro (which are really expensive) to get the editing features, but you can ex...
