07/30/2008 - Coming soon announcement
I haven't seen any mention of it on the forums, but the main page has a "coming soon" pic with what looks like a new ship (or I'm just a newb). I dropped by the site for the first time in a month, good timing I guess.

This is a great idea. You could put some good dialogue and extra personality into the game by having the Tinker explain what you needed, or give hints on where to find each sort of part. Would be an easy way to work some extra dialogue into the game and flesh out the personality of the tinker platfo...

What about weighting the number added or subtracted to the balance based on the average level of the weapons that deal that class of damage. That is, laser and kinetic would have an average level of around 3, while ion would have an average closer to 6. So the positive or negative balance factor giv...

The clouds near me cleared away just before it happened and it got really clear. I didn't take any pictures, just stood out there for awhile and enjoyed it. It definitely gives you a sense of the relative size of ourselves compared to our solar system, and is a little awe-inspiring. The next lunar e...

I don't know if those "rules" I posted have ever been written out on the forums I spoke of. They're more of the unwritten type, general social guidelines that if enough people buy into them, the community works a lot better. Most of them probably do the most good just in terms of something to think ...

I like the idea of a weapon test mission. Along the same lines, it would be pretty cool to have a test pilot mission, especially if a future version of Transcendence allows players to change ships. You'd dock your ship at the base and fly off in a test plane, with orders to test out its new weaponry...

The best forums that I've participated in are ones whose posters adhere to the following rules: 1) Don't spam. Don't post just for the sake of posting; post when you have something constructive to add to the discussion. 2) Respect others. No one is perfect, but we're all here because we enjoy this g...

The easiest would just be to make less-used weapons cheaper, to convince players to purchase them and sink the extra funds into another ship component. You could also add a mode where weapons can be damaged for hard core players (i.e. the ones who are going to be playing the game through many times)...
